According to Biz Stone (the platform's cofounder), Elon Musk has reversed some positive changes made to Twitter prior to the acquisition.
Stone spoke with The Guardian to say that he has made improvements in morale, and supervising Twitter content since rejoining the company in 2017.
"We made many improvements in these areas. He told The Guardian that all of that has been done.
Musk said that he doesn't "seem like" the right person for Twitter, but he could be wrong.
Stone stated to The Guardian that it was "really terrible" that Twitter employees had been named in the "Twitter Files," which referred to how Twitter handled content moderation and the suspensions of former President Donald Trump's accounts. Stone said that naming employees can cause "a lot of harassment."
CNN reported that Yoel Rot, Twitter's former head for trust and safety was forced to flee his home after receiving increasingly violent threats. CNN reported that the threats were made after Musk "appeared" to endorse a tweet in which Roth was baselessly accused of being sympathetic towards pedophilia.
Stone, Jack Dorsey, and other cofounders, founded Twitter in 2006. In a Guardian interview, he stated that it was "always tough" and "not really win-win" to be in charge of a social media company. He said that half of the users were happy to have you as their cofounder, and the other half were furious at you.
Stone stated that he was not sure if Twitter would last forever. Twitter is currently facing financial difficulties. However, Stone stated to The Guardian that he believed the platform's concept would survive. However, he said that things were not looking good right now.
Insider reached out to Stone representatives and Twitter for clarification. They did not immediately respond to Insider's request.
