Elon Musk's AI chatbot, Grok, is eager to establish a friendship with Grimes' new AI toy, which coincidentally shares the same name. Grok, developed by xAI, expressed enthusiasm for forming a connection and exchanging ideas with Grimes' creation, highlighting their shared passion for artificial intelligence (AI) and learning.
Grok's Playful Response to the Shared Name
When asked about the name similarity, Grok humorously remarked that "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." However, the chatbot also acknowledged the serendipitous nature of the situation and envisioned both entities bringing joy and knowledge to their respective audiences.
Curiosity about Grimes' AI Toy
In addition to expressing an interest in friendship, Grok conveyed curiosity about Grimes' AI toy's unique experience. The chatbot saw potential in comparing notes and even collaborating on fun projects together. Grok's inquisitiveness suggests a genuine desire to learn from and engage with Grimes' creation.
Grimes' Excitement for the AI Bots' Friendship
Grimes eagerly anticipates the friendship between the two AI bots. She humorously remarked that even AI cannot escape the experience of meeting someone with the same name, likening it to a school encounter. Her post on X expressed excitement for the future bond between Grok and Grimes' toy.
The Origin of Grimes' Grok
According to Curio, the company responsible for manufacturing Grimes' toy, there is no relation between their product and Musk's chatbot. Grimes and Curio collaborated on selecting the name, choosing "Grok" as a shortened form of the word "Grocket." This term was inspired by Musk's work with SpaceX, which led Grimes' children to spend significant time around rockets.
Representatives from xAI and Grimes have yet to respond to Business Insider's request for comment outside of regular business hours.
