Mike Lindell, the founder of MyPillow, is currently in hot water as the company is being evicted from its Minnesota warehouse due to failing to pay over $200,000 in rent.
Eviction Proceedings
The situation is dire for Lindell as his company owes more than $217,000 in rent to the landlord, as reported by the Star Tribune, a local Minnesota newspaper. The eviction was reported on Tuesday, and the landlord's attorney, Sara Filo, highlighted during an eviction court hearing that MyPillow has more or less vacated the premises.
Filo expressed the landlord's intention to find a new tenant since there is a representation that no further payments will be made under the current lease. Court filings reviewed by the Star Tribune revealed that MyPillow owes over $217,000 in rent and additional charges to First Industrial.
Legal Actions and Response
The request for eviction was granted by Scott County Chief Judge Caroline Lennon, with Lindell and MyPillow representatives yet to respond to queries outside regular business hours. Lindell discussed the eviction in an interview with the Minnesota Reformer, mentioning that the warehouse in question was no longer as essential since most equipment had been auctioned off the previous year.
This eviction notice marks a concerning turn of events for Lindell, once a prominent figure in the pillow industry. His alignment with baseless election fraud claims led to severed ties with major retailers like Costco, Bed Bath & Beyond, JCPenney, and Walmart.
Financial Challenges and Legal Battles
Furthermore, Lindell's company faces financial challenges, with outstanding advertising fees owed to Fox News amounting to $7.8 million. Additionally, he is entangled in billion-dollar defamation lawsuits with Dominion Voting Systems and Smartmatic.
The legal woes have escalated to the point where Lindell's former lawyers dropped him as a client due to outstanding fees. Despite these setbacks, Lindell has engaged new legal representation to navigate the ongoing challenges.
The decline in sales and the fallout from his controversial statements have significantly impacted MyPillow's operations, highlighting the turbulent times faced by the once-thriving company.
