In a legal battle that has captured attention, Cards Against Humanity has taken aim at SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and former President Donald Trump.
The Lawsuit
Cards Against Humanity has filed a lawsuit against Elon Musk's SpaceX, alleging that the aerospace company trespassed on its land in Texas without permission.
The Allegations
The company claims that Musk and SpaceX have been profiting from the use of the land without obtaining proper authorization.
Origins of the Dispute
Originally, the company purchased the land with the intention of obstructing Donald Trump's plans for a border wall.
The Offense
The maker of the controversial card game contends that Elon Musk and SpaceX have crossed a line by encroaching on its property.
Cards Against Humanity, known for its irreverent and often politically incorrect card game, has taken legal action against Musk's SpaceX for unauthorized use of its land in Texas. The lawsuit, filed in Cameron County, alleges that SpaceX trespassed on the company's property.
The company had initially acquired the land as a strategic move to thwart what it referred to as "Donald Trump's very stupid wall," as stated in an announcement on Instagram. Cards Against Humanity has demanded $15 million in damages, with plans to distribute the proceeds among the 150,000 original donors who contributed to the land purchase.
In the lawsuit, referred to as CAH, the company accused SpaceX of not only trespassing but also causing a disturbance and benefiting financially from land they had no permission to utilize.
Cards Against Humanity further claimed that SpaceX had begun constructing modern buildings on neighboring lots, disregarding property boundaries, and leaving gravel and construction equipment on the company's land.
The lawsuit asserts that Musk's association with the unauthorized use of the land tarnishes Cards Against Humanity's reputation and offends its supporters.
SpaceX has not yet responded to the allegations.
The acquisition of the land was described as a publicity stunt aimed at shedding light on the actions of billionaires who neglect the concerns of ordinary citizens. Back in 2017, during President Trump's push for a border wall, Cards Against Humanity purchased land near the border through donations from its backers.
The company's objective was to impede Trump's wall initiative and underscore the priorities of wealthy individuals over the well-being of the general populace.
A spokesperson for Donald Trump has not provided a response to the lawsuit.
