Marko Elez gained attention after inflammatory posts from his social media account were reported by The Wall Street Journal. Following this revelation, Elez resigned from his government position and later expressed intentions to rehire him, as stated by Elon Musk on X.

xAI declined to comment on Elez's employment status after being contacted by Business Insider. Elez's xAI email account became inactive shortly after inquiries were made. Musk's practice of transferring employees between his various companies, such as Tesla, Twitter, and xAI, has been noted, with xAI also hiring former Tesla staff.
