Tesla Model Y has been selling very well. The small SUV was launched in 2020, and it is the best-selling vehicle on Earth.
Here, we're not just talking about electric cars. According to data compiled from market research firm JATO Dynamics, the Model Y beat beloved gas-powered rides such as the Toyota RAV4 or Corolla in order to become the most popular car model worldwide — period — during the first quarter 2023.
What you need to know if youre in the market for a Model Y.
What is the price of a Tesla Model Y?
[TAG1][TAG6]
Model Y is second-cheapest among the Tesla models. Three different models are available, each with a different price, range of driving, and performance.
Model Y entry-level costs $47,000. The Model Y Long Range is next, and costs $50,490 or more. Model Y Performance starts at $54,490.
What are the features you get for your money?
[TAG2][TAG7]
The entire lineup offers a respectable range of travel, a minimalist interior, plenty of cargo space and the impressive technology for which Tesla is famous. Model Y Long Range comes with a seven-seater option that costs $3,000 for families.
Range is a major consideration for EV buyers. The Model Y's Environmental Protection Agency estimates for its SUV base are 279 miles, 330 for the Long Range and 303 miles for Performance.
Teslas are all known for their athletic handling and fast acceleration, but this Performance version takes things to the next level. You get a lower suspension, upgraded brakes and more power. Tesla claims it can reach 60 mph within a mere 3.5 seconds.
[TAG3][TAG8]
Model Y's interior is uncluttered and button-free, as it has become a Tesla trademark. The SUV's iPad like touchscreen or voice commands allow access to all settings. The display is crisp and clear, showing basic information like speed, as well as accessing all of the Tesla high-tech features that the company is known for. These include Dog Mode, which keeps the cabin cool for pets, a web-browser, and an integrated navigation system to help you find Tesla Supercharger stations.
Tesla Model Y has some downsides, including the lack of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto – Tesla forces you use their interface – and an interior which doesn't match up to luxury rivals such as Lexus and BMW.
Does Tesla Model Y qualify as an electric vehicle?
[TAG4][TAG9]
Yes. Model Y buyers can receive a $7500 tax credit if their income does not exceed the annual income limits of $150,000 for individuals, $225,000 per household head, or $300,000.
Does Tesla have a larger SUV?
The Tesla Model X is a larger SUV and costs more. The starting price is $98,490, which puts it at the top end of Tesla's range. The car is available with either five, six or seven seats.
The EPA estimates a range of 348 miles, which is slightly higher than that of the Model Y. The Model X is the only SUV with falcon-wing doors which swing upwards, giving it a spaceship look.
