Despite the busy nature of college life, I make it a point to visit the farm whenever I can.

On a particular day when classes were unexpectedly canceled, my friend and I decided to make the most of our free time. After a challenging search for parking (a well-known issue at Cornell), we found ourselves wading through mud and entering the barn. My friend, who is an animal-science major and researcher, led the way. This marked the beginning of a unique day as a Cornell student.

In the lobby of the Statler Hotel, we momentarily forgot that we were on a college campus. Surrounded by fancy chandeliers and a bustling atmosphere, we made our way to the restaurant of our choice.

Mac's, one of the restaurants at the Statler, became our lunch destination. We perused the menu options and settled on this affordable yet high-quality eatery. As part of Cornell's meal plan, our meal at Mac's was covered by the Big Red Bucks. I opted for a coconut-milk smoothie with fresh berries and enjoyed a plate of rainbow tortellini soaked in pesto-Alfredo sauce. A side of garlic bread completed my satisfying meal.

As I savored my lunch, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the multitude of experiences Cornell offers its students. Whether it's exploring the teaching farm or enjoying a delicious meal at the student-run hotel, Cornell allows me to pursue my passions beyond the boundaries of my major. After bidding goodbye to my friend, who returned to work at the Dairy Bar, I made my way to the arts quad for a meeting with my editor at The Cornell Daily Sun. But not before stopping by the Statler lobby to pick up some new bedroom slippers.
