After Musk’s deadline passed, a Twitter executive took legal action.
Reuters reported that a Twitter executive, who filed court proceedings over Elon Musk’s “hardcore” stay-or-go ultimatum, has now left the company.
Sinead McSweeney was Twitter’s vice-president for public policy. Her team was hit with a new round of layoffs on Thursday, Reuters reported. Her LinkedIn profile shows that she was “former” prior to her job title at Twitter.
According to the news agency, McSweeney has been replaced by Nick Pickles who was Twitter’s senior director for global policy strategy.
According to Insider’s Kali Hays, the latest Twitter layoffs began Wednesday and affected half of Twitter’s public policy team.
McSweeney obtained a temporary injunction by an Irish court in November to keep her job following Elon Musk’s ultimatum to “hardcore” to her.
On November 15, the new Twitter CEO sent an email to staff requesting that they sign up for Twitter 2.0’s “extremely hardcore work culture” or quit. McSweeney refused to sign up for the policy, despite being told by the email that they needed to have all employees agree by November 17.
According to The Irish Times, she stated that she did not intend to resign and that she didn’t reply due to confusion over her employment contract.
McSweeney failed to reply to McSweeney’s email. Twitter informed McSweeney that she had submitted a voluntary resignation and she was now out of all company systems and the Dublin office.
Twitter had earlier this month informed an Irish court that it had reinstated McSweeney’s position as public policy vice president.
Insider reached out to McSweeney and Twitter representatives but they did not respond immediately.
