- Bill Ackman promised to donate $150,000 in exchange for a doctor debating vaccines on Joe Rogan’s podcast.
- Dr Peter Hotez criticised Rogan for having Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as a guest on his podcast.
- Elon Musk also joined in the conversation, encouraging Ackman to accept Ackman’s offer.
Bill Ackman has entered the vaccine debate by offering $150,000 in charity to a doctor who agrees to debate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Rogan and Dr Peter Hotez got into an argument after the pediatrician sent a tweet criticizing a "The Joe Rogan Experience", which featured Kennedy.
Rogan and Kennedy discuss a range of topics, including vaccines.
Hotez agrees with Vice's article that Rogan's broadcasting of the views of the presidential candidate, Rogan, misinforms the public about vaccines.
Instagram had previously banned Kennedy for spreading false and misleading information about vaccines. This included claiming that they were connected to autism, and comparing COVID locksdowns with Nazi Germany. After announcing that he was running for president, his account was restored.
Rogan's response to Hotez was to pledge $100,000 in charity if Kennedy appeared on the podcast.

Ackman, the CEO of Pershing square Capital Management, got involved and pledged an additional $150,000. He is one of many public figures who have promised donations to charities in exchange for a discussion.

Elon Musk was also interested in the argument. He appeared to provoke Hotez with a series tweets mocking Vice, suggesting that the pediatrician hates charity in an effort to convince him to agree to debate. Musk replied to Rogan’s first offer of a debate by using two fire emojis.
- Hotez is a professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Molecular Virology and Microbiology of Baylor College of Medicine, Houston. He also serves as dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine.
Hotez appeared to accept Rogan's demands and offered to appear on the podcast in order to "clear up the air".
This is not the first controversy surrounding vaccine information that Rogan, and Spotify, the company who distributes his podcasts, has been involved in.
In January 2022 the musician Neil Young demanded that Spotify remove his music from its platform as a protest against Rogan's incorrect vaccine claims.
Rogan has signed a deal worth $200 million with Spotify, bringing his highly popular podcast exclusively to Spotify in 2020.
Spotify did not respond immediately to an Insider request for comment made outside of normal working hours.
