The former president Donald Trump has launched another attack against his newly elected GOP presidential rival Governor. Ron DeSantis was accused of plagiarism in his State of the Union address for 2020.
Trump's team sent an email circulary on Wednesday night, shortly after DeSantis announced his official presidential bid via Twitter Spaces. Technical glitches marred the announcement.
Trump's email stated: "Despite a catastrophic failure of launch, Ron DeSantis launched his candidacy using 'Great American Comeback', a phrase that was stolen from President Donald J. Trump’s 2020 State of the Union Address."
Trump said in his State of the Union Address in 2020: "Three Years Ago, We Launched the Great American Comeback." I am here to tell you about the amazing results.
DeSantis seemed to have copied the phrase from his campaign announcement. He said: "I am Ron DeSantis and I'm running for the Great American Comeback." This was the title of DeSantis' first official Twitter campaign video.

Trump's email blast included one final jab: "Perhaps the DeSantis communication staff was too preoccupied trying to extinguish flames from their candidate announcement to create their own message."
Trump has been hurling insults at DeSantis since the announcement. He called DeSantis announcement's technical glitches a "catastrophe." Donald Trump Junior, Donald Trump's son, also referred to it as a "#DeSaster."
Trump posted a comparison between his lavish announcement made at Mar-a-Lago and DeSantis' glitch-filled Twitter Spaces announcement.
Trump's allies also joined the DeSantis bashing, including Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz. Gaetz was once a DeSantis supporter and tweeted "DeSedative."
In a tweet sent shortly after DeSantis announced his decision, Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene stated that she supported Trump and the "Great American Comeback".
