Dr. Joseph Antoun, the CEO of a prominent longevity company, recently revealed his simple yet powerful workout regimen that promotes healthy aging.

According to Dr. Antoun, muscle loss is a common occurrence after reaching the age of 40. This decline in muscle mass can result in a slower metabolic rate, weight gain, and various health issues.

To combat these effects and maintain overall health, Dr. Antoun emphasizes the importance of daily physical activity, including walking 10,000 steps, engaging in cardiovascular exercises, and incorporating strength training into his routine.

Walking for Longevity: A Daily Commitment

Dr. Antoun prioritizes walking as a key component of his daily routine, aiming to achieve 10,000 steps each day. Notably, he prefers walking to work instead of driving, seizing the opportunity to engage in physical activity while attending virtual meetings using his AirPods.

Research supports the benefits of daily walking for longevity. A study published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology in 2023 revealed that walking 4,000 steps daily significantly reduces the risk of premature death. Increasing step count further correlates with a lower mortality risk, emphasizing the importance of regular physical activity.

Combining Cardio and Strength Training for Optimal Health

In addition to daily walking, Dr. Antoun incorporates a balanced mix of cardiovascular and strength training exercises into his weekly routine. Studies, such as one published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine in 2022, suggest that a combination of aerobic and strength training exercises enhances longevity.

To maintain muscle strength, Dr. Antoun dedicates 45 minutes to weightlifting sessions three to four times weekly. For cardiovascular fitness, he engages in high-intensity activities like treadmill sprints and sports such as basketball or tennis, promoting heart health and overall well-being.
