Elon brought his mother along to a meeting of advertisers, where he posted a tweet criticizing Trump. He fired an executive after he didn’t laugh at the tweet, according to a report.

Elon Musk visited New York for Halloween to meet advertisers and see the Twitter office. He also brought Maye Musk along. During the meeting, execs inquired about Trump’s ban. Musk then made a joke about Trump.

Bloomberg reported that Elon Musk brought Maye Musk with him to meet with Twitter advertisers.

The Twitter CEO arrived in New York at 2 AM on Halloween with plans to visit the company’s offices and convince advertisers that the app is safe.

He met with Horizon Media, an ad agency that represents brands like Burger King, Corona and Geico. Along with Musk’s friend Jason Calacanis and Maye Musk, two advertising executives from Twitter were also present.

Calacanis, a tech investor, was part of Musk’s inner circle at Twitter. He gave him advice about the company but never held an official position. Staff were instructed to listen to Calacanis’ podcast after mass layoffs to understand the reasons for these cuts.

It is not clear why Musk’s mother came along to the meeting. Later, she accompanied her son to Heidi Klum’s costume party.

Maye previously performed with her son, a billionaire, at the Met Gala and Saturday Night Live.

According to Bloomberg, Bill Koenigsberg (CEO Horizon Media) told Musk that some clients had heard of the meeting. He stated that “they all asked him ‘Is Donald Trump going to get back on the platform?’

Musk replied that many people were asking the same question before taking out his iPhone to compose a tweet during the meeting. “If I had one dollar for every person who asked me if Trump was coming back on the platform, Twitter could be making money!”

Musk apparently paused before posting and asked his colleagues if they liked his joke. Musk posted the tweet despite opposition from one Twitter executive. Bloomberg reports that the executive was fired later in the week.
