Elon Musk accused a Twitter employee laid off of using their disability to "no actual work"
Haraldur Thorleifsson was the accuser. He is a former Twitter director and engaged in a public spat on Monday with Musk.
Musk tweeted: "The truth is that this guy (independently wealthy) did not do any actual work. He claimed that he was disabled from typing and yet he was tweeting up a storm. Musk tweeted: "I can't say that I have much respect for that."
Musk replied, "But was he fired?" Musk replied, "But he was fired?
Thorleifsson posted a statement on his personal website before his fight with Musk. It states: "I have gene muscle atrophy, also known as muscle dystrophy. Dysferlinopathy is the one I have. I have a wheelchair, and my strength is slowly but surely deteriorating in my upper body. It's not something I like, but it doesn't change much."
Twitter and Thorleifsson did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

Thorleifsson is located in Reykjavik (Iceland) and joined Twitter in 2021 as a full time employee after Twitter acquired Ueno Creative Agency, which he had founded. Numerous Icelandic media outlets named him the person of the Year for 2022.
Thorleifsson posted an image of himself in a wheelchair during his Monday spat with Musk. Later, he posted a tweet about the effects of muscular dysfunction on his body.

Musk was the first to engage in an exchange. He tagged Musk in a tweet saying: "9 days ago, the access to my computer at work was blocked. Along with 200 other Twitter employees. Your head of HR cannot confirm whether I am an employee. My emails have not been answered by you. Perhaps if you get enough people to retweet, you'll answer my emails here?
Thorleifsson later stated that he had received an email from Twitter’s Head of HR, which confirmed that he was no more employed by the company.
In November, Twitter employees with disabilities filed a class action lawsuit against the company. They claimed that Musk's new work culture and instructions to "work long hours at high intensity" made it impossible for them to quit.
