- Elon Musk responded to a question about Tesla's earnings call with a comment about how popular he was online.
- He spoke up his 127,000,000 Twitter followers and stated that his account may be the most used across all social media platforms.
- Tesla beat analyst expectations with strong fourth quarter earnings.
Elon Musk is constantly on Twitter these days, even when he's at Tesla's quarterly earnings call.
Musk spoke up on Wednesday about how much he's loved by his new social network. These comments were made in response to a question from an investor about Tesla's efforts to reduce brand damage caused by Musk's political tweets.
According to polls, Tesla's popularity is falling among Democrats. This suggests that Musk's embrace of the right is alienating left-leaning customers.
"Let's check my Twitter account. Musk stated that he has 127 million followers and this number is growing rapidly. Musk said, "That indicates that I am fairly popular. While I may not be as popular with everyone, the majority of my followers speak for themselves."
The billionaire said, "I'm probably the most interacted social-media account in the world, I believe certainly on Twitter,"
Musk's Twitter presence has become increasingly unpredictable, where he posts conservative memes, attacks Anthony Fauci, and calls out wokeism. This has caused some long-standing Tesla owners to leave the brand.
Musk, now the CEO of Twitter, Tesla and other ventures, has praised Twitter for its potential to drive sales and encouraged more companies use it. The website's chaotic purchase by Musk, which was completed in October, saw a number of prominent advertisers withdraw spending.
I believe Twitter is an extremely powerful tool to drive demand for Tesla. Musk stated that he would encourage all companies, automotive and otherwise, to make greater use of Twitter and use their Twitter accounts in interesting, informative, and entertaining ways.
Musk spoke about Tesla's finances, which is not surprising. Wall Street was not expecting the company to report $24.32 Billion in revenue over the past three months of 2022. Analyst estimates were also exceeded by adjusted earnings per share of $1.19.
Following the announcement, Tesla shares surged by 5.4% in late trading.
