Elon Musk expressed his satisfaction as Dubai police incorporated a Cybertruck into their collection of high-end police vehicles. However, the Tesla pickup is not expected to engage in criminal pursuits in the near future.
Dubai Adds Cybertruck to Luxury Police Fleet
Dubai has introduced a Cybertruck into its assortment of luxury police vehicles, much to the delight of Elon Musk.
Effectiveness as a Police Vehicle
It remains uncertain how well the Cybertruck would function as a law enforcement vehicle.
The Dubai police force announced that they have included the Tesla Cybertruck in their tourist police patrol fleet. They shared an image of the Cybertruck adorned in green and white colors.
Despite being part of the patrol fleet, the Cybertruck is unlikely to engage in high-speed pursuits anytime soon.
Dubai's luxury patrol fleet, which boasts vehicles like Bugattis, Lamborghinis, and an Aston Martin, primarily serves as a tourist attraction, as reported by CNN.
Tesla claims that the distinctive Cybertruck is bulletproof. However, a test conducted by the YouTube channel JerryRigEverything revealed that while it can withstand small-caliber firearms, larger weapons could potentially inflict serious damage on the Cybertruck's stainless steel exterior.
Challenges and Scrutiny
The off-road capabilities of the Cybertruck have also faced scrutiny. Videos have surfaced online showing the 6,600-pound pickup struggling on a sandy beach, in snowy conditions, and while attempting to climb a modest incline.
Experts have raised concerns about the Cybertruck's impact on pedestrian safety, warning that its rapid acceleration and stainless steel construction could turn it into a potential hazard.
Since its launch in November last year, the Cybertruck has encountered a series of setbacks. In April, Tesla recalled all 3,878 Cybertrucks shipped at that point due to a flaw that could lead to the accelerator pedal becoming stuck at full throttle.
Owners have reported various quality issues, such as panel gaps, rust spots, and a frunk that automatically closes and has been known to trap fingers (a problem that Tesla has since addressed).
Recently, reports on a Cybertruck buyers forum suggested that deliveries have been postponed due to an issue with the oversized windshield wiper.
Despite reaching out to Tesla and Dubai police for comments, Business Insider received no immediate responses outside regular business hours.
