Elon Musk named Linda Yaccarino the new Twitter CEO, ending the intense speculation over who the billionaire would name as his successor.
"I'm excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino, the new CEO of Twitter!" Musk posted on Twitter Friday. "@LindaYacc focuses primarily on business operation, while I focus on new technology and product design." "I look forward to working with Linda on transforming this platform into X, a one-stop app for everything."

Yaccarino resigned her role as long-time advertising boss at NBCUniversal on Friday but has not yet publicly commented.
After his $44 billion acquisition last year, the announcement seems to have ended the guessing games about who Musk would nominate as CEO.
Musk tweeted earlier on May 11 that he would hire a new CEO to lead the company. He said "she" will start in about six weeks.
Yaccarino inherits an extremely difficult job. Musk presided over chaos at Twitter after he shook up the company by implementing drastic layoffs, which reduced the number of employees from 7,500 down to around 1,000. Advertisers have raised serious concerns over the spread of harmful material under Musk's leadership.
Musk previously said that he intended to step down from his role as Twitter CEO. This was due to growing concern among Tesla shareholders, who felt that Musk was not spending enough time on the electric vehicle company given his Twitter responsibilities.
He will continue to play an active role on Twitter as he assumes the dual role of chief technology officer and executive chair. In this role, he will oversee product, system, and software operations.
