  • The Boring Company has partnered with a construction firm to build housing in Austin, Texas.
  • Street names for "Project Amazing" include Boring Boulevard or Waterjet Way.
  • Documents show that 110 homes were initially planned for the development.

Elon Musk plans to build hundreds more homes in Texas for his workers.

The Austin Business Journal first reported the development in Bastrop County. It is near facilities for The Boring Company, and is also known as "Project Amazing."

Mel Hamner, Bastrop County commissioner, said last month at a meeting that Florida-based housebuilder Lennar was working with Musk's tunnel construction company to build 110 homes close to its headquarters.

According to county documents, the subdivision includes streets called Boring Boulevard and Cutterhead Crossing. Waterjet Way and Porpoise Place are also listed. Construction began when it is not known.

According to online records, the land is owned and controlled by Gappes Bass LLC. This company is affiliated with The Boring Company. Adam Pashaian is a corporate controller at the Boring Company and is registered as an agent with Gapped Bass.

Musk stated in late 2021 that Austin also houses a Tesla gigafactory, which could eventually employ as many as 20,000 people. SpaceX will also be building a factory in the region.

Hamner stated that there is a housing affordability crisis within the region, according to therealdeal.com earlier this month.

According to the outlet, he stated that "That's why The Boring Company builds housing for their employees, so they can afford living somewhere near their facilities."

Insider spoke to Matt Holm, Austin's real estate agent and president of the Tesla Owners Club. He said that Musk's employees would need many more homes.

Holm stated that Lennar could use 3D-printed homes for its Austin development.

Insider reached out to the Boring Company, Lenar and Bastrop County for comment, but they didn't respond outside of normal business hours.
