- Tucker Carlson tweeted the first episode of his new Twitter show Tuesday.
- Musk contacted Rachel Maddow, Don Lemon and others to ask them to launch their own.
- The NYT reports that Insider reported Twitter's priority is video content. Ad sales have dropped 59% since Insider's report.
Elon Musk has asked liberal TV hosts again to tweet their shows, in an attempt to counter Tucker Carlson.
He tweeted on Thursday: "It would be wonderful to have @maddow and @donlemon put their shows on our platform."
Musk continued, "You will receive full support from us." "The digital village square is open to all."
It's been less than a week since Don Lemon was invited to launch a new Twitter show.
Musk seems to be firmly committed to the venture, as it's now his most-pinned tweet.
Musk tweeted an explanation when Carlson announced that he would start presenting via Twitter after he was fired from Fox News back in April.
He said that Tucker is subject to all the rules and rewards for content creators.
Experts say that under Musk's leadership Twitter has become more sympathetic towards right-wing politics. Racist content has also been reported to be on the rise.
The world's wealthiest person shared anti-trans content several times and apologized for tweeting a conspiracy theorist about an attack against Nancy Pelosi’s husband.
Carlson's first episode on Twitter, where he spoke of Ukraine war conspiracy theories, furthered the association between the platform and the right-wing.
The New York Times reported that ad sales have dropped 59% since Musk took over Twitter.
Insider reported on Monday that Musk prioritizes Twitter's service for live video. Some advertisers believe that Musk wants to make Twitter's platform video-centric. This would make sense, given Linda Yaccarino’s expertise at selling video ads along with video content.
Variety reported that advertisers returned to Fox News at 8 p.m. after Carlson left.
Twitter was contacted by Insider for a comment. Twitter responded to Insider's inquiry with an automated response.
