Elon Musk made a public appearance on Wednesday at the World Government Summit, warning against the dangers associated with a single global government.
Musk replied to a video of him saying, "Seemed like the right place," in a tweet.
At the Dubai-based conference, SpaceX's CEO and Tesla spoke via video link. The event began at 9:00 p.m. PDT. According to the annual conference, it is dedicated to "shaping the future of government" and focuses on technology in solving problems facing humanity.
Musk spoke at the conference to criticize the notion of a single political authority.
He said, "I know that this is called The World Government Summit. But I think we should be a bit more concerned about becoming too much of one world government."
"We want not to create a civilizational danger by having, frankly — this may seem a little odd — excessive cooperation between governments."
The second-richest person in the world explained that the history of different civilizations has not meant the end of humanity as a whole, since they weren't completely interlinked.
Musk stated, "While Rome was falling," Islam was rising, pointing out the advances in science and technology at that time.
Musk stated that the world requires "some degree of civilizational diversity so that, if one part of civilization goes wrong, the whole thing doesn’t collapse and humanity continues to move forward."
Musk stated that if the world is too interconnected, then one catastrophic event could have worldwide consequences.

Although the Roman Empire is generally believed to have fallen in the fifth century, there are some disputes. The Islamic Golden Age started around the eighth century.
CNN reports that the period saw technological advances such as the creation of the first university in the world, in Morocco, in 859. Algebra also has its roots in this period. According to the Encylopedia Britannica, the number system used today in large parts of the world is also Arabic. It was introduced to Europe in 12th century.
Musk stated that too many civilizations could lead to the collapse of the entire system. Musk said, "I don't suggest war or any other type of conflict. But I think we should be cautious about actually cooperating too much."
Musk previously warned that civilization would collapse if more people had children. Musk stated that if there aren't more children, civilization will collapse. He spoke at the Wall Street Journal's Annual CEO Council in 2021.
The National Center for Health Statistics data shows that birth rates fell by 4% between 2019 and 2020. The father-of-nine wrote in July 2022: "A collapsing fertility rate is the greatest danger civilization faces."
Musk encouraged politicians to speak authentically on social media at Wednesday's conference and stated that he will be looking for a new CEO of Twitter by the end the year.
