- Elon Musk stated in an interview to CNBC that he was "pro-Semitic, if not anything."
- He made the comments after comparing George Soros with "X-Men's" villain Magneto, on Monday.
- Musk accused Soros as well of hatred for humanity, without providing any evidence to support his claims.
Elon Musk defended his comments about the Jewish billionaire George Soros, a day after comparing him to a comic book villain.
Musk told CNBC's David Faber that he was "like a pro-Semite" during an interview on Tuesday. Musk claimed on Monday that Soros reminded him of Magneto from the "X-Men", and that Soros "hates mankind."
"I said that he reminded me of Magneto. It's like, people, just calm down. Musk said, "Let's not make it a metaphorical argument."
Musk then doubled-down on his criticism of Soros. He said he believes it is true that Soros hates mankind but did not provide any further evidence to support the claim.
Faber asked Musk why he tweeted about sensitive issues knowing that it could harm his business.
Why share it if people who buy Teslas might not agree with you?" "Advertisers on Twitter might not agree with you," Faber asks the Twitter and Tesla CEO during the interview.
Musk replied by saying that it was his right to freedom of expression and that he had the right to say anything he liked.
Musk said he didn't want the interview to be a "George Soros Interview" and added: "I will say what I think, even if it means losing money."

Musk's Monday tweet saying "Soros reminded me of Magneto" has been viewed by 39 million people as of the time of publication.
Musk and investigative journalist Brian Krassenstein also sparred over the "Magneto' tweet. Krassenstein said to Musk that Soros, in his view, is "attacked for his good intentions, which some Americans believe are bad simply because they disagree with his political affiliations."
Musk responded to Krassenstein tweet by saying: "You presume they are good intentions. These are not. He wants to destroy the fabric of civilisation. Soros hates the human race."
Musk's anger — and his tweets criticizing Soros — came after it was revealed Soros' fund sold its entire stake in Tesla in the first quarter 2023. This information is contained in a 13F filed on Friday.
Musk didn't elaborate — either in his tweets, or in an interview with CNBC — why he believed Magneto and Soros to be similar. Magneto is a mutant in Marvel's long-running "X-Men" comic series. Magneto is a Holocaust-survivor with the superhuman power to control magnetic field.
Magneto's comic book arc shows him changing from a villain who believes mutants should rule humanity to an anti-hero, who at times allies with the X-Men.
Soros is also a Holocaust survivor. He has also been falsely charged with being a Nazi. Reuters debunked this claim in 2020 — Soros's family was actually Hungarian Jews who lived in Budapest during World War II.
Soros is also the subject of many right-wing conspiracies. People believe that he tried to start a US civil war, used his wealth to influence the politics, and conspired to flood Budapest with refugees.
Musk didn't immediately respond to Insiders request for comment, sent after regular business hours.
