You may have noticed a problem if you are using Twitter’s “For You”, instead of the chronological tab “Following”. Many users noticed that the algorithmic feed was showing too many Elon Musk tweets and replies. This is regardless of whether they follow him. The CEO of Twitter confirmed the fact by tweeting, “Please stay tuned while we adjust the uh… ‘algorithm.'”
Musk may be joking by using “algorithm”, in quotations, that someone, possibly himself, is responsible for the change. This is not a surprising conclusion, given that Elon-forward feeds arrived just after Musk complained about a decrease in his engagement. He even fired an engineer because of the issue.
We are making adjustments to the uh …. algorithm so please stay tuned.
Musk (@elonmusk), February 14, 2023. Musk posted that a solution was on the way after a long day at TwitterHQ with his eng team. Musk stated that 95 percent of his tweets were not getting sent to the Following feed because of an issue with “Fanout” so it’s been moved to another service. He also pointed out that the Recommendation algorithm was not working properly, which “caused accounts with many followers being dumped.”
Although Twitter is still not saying why it went from being “Musk lite to all Elon all of the time”, it seems that this issue is being addressed. You can either mut Musk temporarily or use the Following feed to view only the tweets that you are interested in, exactly when they occur.
