Elon Musk’s SpaceX Acquires Boeing 737 with Mysterious Livery

January 31, 2024 By Peter Leave a Comment

A recent sighting at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) has sparked curiosity among planespotters. A Boeing 737 with a unique grey livery captured the attention of onlookers, and it turns out the aircraft is connected to Elon Musk's SpaceX. This acquisition adds to the company's fleet, which previously consisted of Gulfstream private jets.

SpaceX's New Addition: The Boeing 737

According to records, Elon Musk's SpaceX has reportedly purchased a Boeing 737 that was formerly operated by Air China. The aircraft, registered as N154TS, was spotted landing at LAX. The Federal Aviation Administration's registry reveals that Falcon Aviation Holdings LLC is the current owner of the jet. Interestingly, this company shares the same address as SpaceX's headquarters in Hawthorne, California.

Falcon Aviation Holdings took possession of the Boeing 737-800 in July, as per data from Planespotters.net. The aircraft was originally delivered to Air China in 2002 and later converted into a freighter. It remains unclear whether SpaceX will continue to use it in this configuration or repurpose it for something else.

Exploring SpaceX's Aircraft Fleet

Aviation enthusiast Jack Sweeney, who has been tracking SpaceX's planes, has noted that there are now five aircraft associated with the company. While most of them are owned by Falcon Landing LLC, the recent addition of the Boeing 737 sets it apart from the rest. The other four planes in SpaceX's fleet are Gulfstream private jets, including the G650, which is typically used by Elon Musk for air travel.

The Purpose Behind the Boeing 737 Acquisition

It remains a mystery as to why SpaceX has acquired an aircraft that can seat significantly more passengers than their usual Gulfstream jets. The purpose and utilization of the Boeing 737 are yet to be revealed. Business Insider reached out to SpaceX for comment but did not receive an immediate response outside of regular US working hours.

In conclusion, Elon Musk's SpaceX has expanded its aircraft fleet with the acquisition of a Boeing 737. The purpose behind this purchase and how it will fit into the company's operations still remains unknown. As the story unfolds, aviation enthusiasts and industry observers eagerly await further details about SpaceX's intriguing new addition.
