- Elon Musk stated on Fox News "Tucker Carlson Tonight", that news organizations should limit the number of tweets.
- Musk had stripped The New York Times' blue tick from Twitter.
- Musk called the NYT the "Twitter-equivalent of diarrhea".
Elon Musk suggested that news organizations limit their tweets per day to 10 stories during an interview with Tucker Carlson Tonight on Fox News Channel, which aired Monday but was actually recorded earlier in the month.
Musk spoke about his decision to remove The New York Times blue tick from Twitter during the interview. Carlson asked Musk to comment on a tweet he sent at the time, in which Musk described the Times feed as the "Twitter equivalent of diarrhea."
Musk explained to Carlson that The Times "tweets every single article – even boring ones, ones that do not make it into the newspaper."
He added: "If you follow @NYTimes, you will get bombarded with hundreds of tweets every day and your entire feed will be filled up with NY Times." What are the top stories of the day?" "Put out 10 or so – a number that is manageable."
Socialblade's social media tracker shows that the newspaper has tweeted 110 times per day on average over the past two weeks.
Musk tweeted 102 times over the weekend. But during the weekend, Tesla only tweeted 92.
The billionaire posted updates on Twitter, SpaceX and several short responses and two memes.

Musk said to Carlson that he was "clearly" familiar with Twitter, as he had been the most-interacted-with Twitter account before the October acquisition.
Musk became the most followed account on Twitter last month, just five months after he bought the company.
According to an article from Platformer in March, Musk is one of 35 “VIPs” whose tweets Twitter secretly prioritizes. Lebron James of the NBA, Ben Shapiro from conservative commentary, and US politician Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez were among those who received special treatment.
According to reports, the VIP users' Tweets bypass an algorithm on Twitter that prevents too much content from one user being seen.
Musk denied a previous report by Platformer stating that he had ordered staff in February to boost his Tweets. According to reports, a Twitter engineer was fired for telling Musk his popularity was declining in response Musk's questions about his Twitter view count dropping.
Musk blamed a bug for some users complaining about too much Musk on their feeds. Some users are willing to pay up to $4 per month for a subscription that allows them the opportunity to ask Musk anything.
Musk is well-known for his late-night tweeting. In a BBC interview this month, Musk said that he believes he should not tweet after 3 am. "Yes," he replied.
Twitter was contacted by Insider for a comment. Twitter responded to Insider's inquiry with an automated response.
