Twitter's CEO Linda Yaccarino, who has just taken over as the new CEO of Twitter, has spoken out about its new rate limits.

Yaccarino posted Twitter's official announcement on the changes along with a support message.

She wrote: When you have a platform like Twitter, you must make bold moves to continue strengthening it. This work is important and ongoing.

Elon Musk made an announcement last week that he would limit the number of Tweets users can read per day, and block unregistered users.

He blamed new policies on "data scraping" or "system manipulations" that had been occurring. Some former employees, however, have expressed doubts about the billionaire’s explanation. Yoel Roth, the former director of trust and security at the company, is one such person.

Twitter's official statement confirmed the sudden changes to the rules and tried to explain why there was no warning. In a blog post, the company stated: "Any advanced notice on these actions could have allowed bad actors alter their behavior in order to avoid detection."

Kali Hays of Insider reported that Twitter's staff was also kept in the dark regarding this sudden change. Insider reported that the move was not communicated to employees and they received very little communication afterward from Musk and Yaccarino.

Twitter stated in a blog post that "the effects on advertising were minimal." Yaccarino has set a goal to bring back advertisers who have left the platform.

Last week, The Financial Times reported that Yaccarino told her staff to engage in "hand-to hand combat" to bring back advertisers who left. Advertising experts told Reuters that the rate limits may undermine Yaccarino’s efforts to save the company.

Insider did not receive a comment from Twitter in response to Insider's question.
