- Looks like Zuckerberg did not need to wait until a cage-match to punch Musk.
- Since its launch, Meta's rival Twitter, Threads has attracted two million sign-ups.
- Zuckerberg claims that Twitter is "only in its opening moments."
Mark Zuckerberg has started to sass Elon Musk on Threads before he even had a chance to have a jiu jitsu match.
Meta released its new text-based application, Threads on Wednesday. Zuckerberg has been interacting with Threads users ever since the app was launched. Some of them have drawn comparisons between Meta and Twitter, its obvious competitor.
Threads is brilliant. Twitter is finished. Zuck will also KO Elon, according to a user called strikingbreakdowns.
Zuckerberg responded, "We are only at the beginning of the first round."
Another user, iamsamyrlaine said: "He really needs to throw the towel in…at least in terms of Twitter lmao." This was a veiled reference by iamsamyrlaine to Musk. Zuckerberg replied with an emoji of a "face crying tears of joy".
Zuckerberg, whose business could benefit greatly from Twitter's turmoil has been fueling the fire that's driven his long-running feud with Musk. Musk challenged Meta to a cage-fight after Musk tweeted Threads will eventually place the Earth under Zuck’s thumb, with no other choices.
It looks like Zuckerberg has taken the first shot, by hitting Musk right where it hurts – making Threads "anti-Twitter."
Zuckerberg announced on Wednesday that he will make Threads a more "friendly place". Zuckerberg agreed that Threads, and its users, should "focus" on kindness.
"We definitely focus on kindness and make this a friendly environment," Zuckerberg responded.
Threads is gaining popularity, but it's not clear if it will be able to surpass Twitter on the long term. Zuckerberg announced on Wednesday that over five million people had signed up for Threads in the first four-hour period of its launch.
Anyone think this could become bigger than Twitter!?" A user named Mikedavismma said this.
It'll take time, but it would be great to have a public conversation app that has 1 billion+ users. Twitter had the chance to do this, but failed. "Hopefully we will," Zuckerberg responded.
Zuckerberg is the winner for now. Your move, Elon.
