- Ross Gerber, a Tesla activist investor, told Bloomberg that Leo KoGuan supports him for a seat on the board.
- KoGuan is Tesla’s third-largest shareholder.
- Gerber said that he plans to seek a seat on the board and stated that "Tesla must build its image around Tesla and not just Elon."
Ross Gerber, a Tesla activist investor, said that he has the support of shareholder Leo KoGuan in a plan to run for a seat on the board to oversee CEO Elon Musk.
Gerber announced his intention to seek a seat on the board on Friday. He stated that Tesla must "grow up" during a Twitter Spaces conference.
"I believe it is vitally important to accept criticism. This is something I have learned over the years with Elon. You know, he is very thin skinned. He said, "I've had enough." "Tesla must build its image around Tesla and not just Elon."
Gerber later revealed to Bloomberg that KoGuan was Tesla's third largest individual shareholder and pledged support for Geber for the seat on the board.
KoGuan, a Musk "fanboy" who is outspoken and vocal, has suggested that he would not be opposed to the appointment of a new chief executive for the company.
KoGuan also criticised Tesla's board for failing to do more to oversee Musk. He did not immediately respond to a request to comment.
Gerber is also the chief executive officer of Gerber Kawasaki Investment, which he cofounded. According to Bloomberg data, Gerber holds approximately 440,000 shares in Tesla, which is 0.01%.
Tesla stock investors started to worry last year after the stock lost over 60%. It has since recovered to erase the majority of its decline. The electric car company's shares have risen 54% this year.
Gerber continues to push for his bid for a seat on the Tesla board. He said he had close ties to other notable Tesla investors like Baillie Gifford & Co. and Cathie Wood's Ark Invest, but he didn't specify if he has their support for a seat on the board.
