Teslas have never been cheaper after a series price cuts made by Elon Musk’s automaker in this year.
Tesla's entry level Model 3 has dropped from $41,990 to just $39,990 overnight. Tesla reduced the price of the sedan on Tuesday, after the new federal tax credit rules for electric vehicles went into effect. Model 3 base is eligible for $3,750 instead of the maximum $7,500 credit.
The cheapest battery pack for the Model 3 is Chinese. This means that buyers are not eligible for the full incentive. This favors vehicles manufactured in North America, using components and minerals from North America. The rear-wheel drive car boasts a range of 272 miles and a time from 0-60 mph of just 5.8 seconds.
Tesla has also slashed the prices of all Model Y SUVs across the board by $3,000 Tesla recently added a cheaper Model Y to its website, which was previously an off-menu choice. This vehicle is now starting at $46,990, before incentives. It was previously $49,990.
