Elon Musk announced later that Yaccarino will be taking over as Twitter CEO. [TAG2][TAG19]

Musk tweeted: "@LindaYacc focuses primarily on business operation, while I focus on new technology & product design," Musk. Musk tweeted: "Looking forward working with Linda on transforming this platform into X – the everything app."

The billionaire had previously stated that his successor would take over the role as CEO in approximately six weeks.

In an interview dating from 2021 Yaccarino stated that her mother was an "incredible source of inspiration" for her. Her mother is an Italian-American first generation immigrant. [TAG4][TAG21]

Yaccarino stated, "She did not have the opportunity to attend college." "She raised her three daughters, and made sure each one focused on education so that we could all be financially independent. "I continue to feel that I owe my mother and it drives me and helps me to push and drive myself."

She was an intern for NBCU long before she was appointed ad chief. [TAG6][TAG23]

Yaccarino said in a video that she arrived at the NBCU intern as a "bright, new and cheery intern," but soon learned the company did not have a record of her. She was then placed on the media planning department.

Yaccarino, who is a media professional, said that her love for the industry was born there.

Before she left, she was the executive vice president/COO for advertising sales and marketing at Turner.

According to her profile, which has been removed from the company website, she oversaw 2,000 employees who produced more than $100 billion in advertising sales.

Yaccarino also worked to make NBCU as competitive as major tech companies such Meta and Google. Her team has created partnerships with companies including Apple News Snapchat and Twitter.

Yaccarino was scheduled to speak before she announced her resignation Friday at NBCU Upfront, the annual Upfront event. [TAG10][TAG27]

Yaccarino also participated in the World Economic Forum, an event that Musk has criticized in the past. [TAG11][TAG28]

Yaccarino states on her LinkedIn profile that she is the executive chairman of the WEF taskforce on future work. This has been in place since 2019. She is also listed as a member of the Media, Entertainment and Culture Industry Governors Steering Committee.

The WEF takes place in Davos every year. This is where influential people and executives meet to discuss global issues such as climate change, the cost of living, etc.

Musk called the Davos event "boring" earlier this year. Musk said at the time that he had been invited to the event, but chose not to attend. The WEF claims that Musk hasn't received an invitation in many years.

Musk tweeted that "WEF has become an unelected global government which the people have never asked for or wanted," in January.

Musk described Yaccarino as "smart and fair" in a Friday tweet. [TAG12][TAG29]

Musk tweeted: "I believe people on both sides of politics will find Linda to have been smart, fair and rational."

This tweet was sent after conservative Twitter users criticized Yaccarino for his ties to the WEF. Liberal Twitter users pointed out, however, that the new Twitter chief executive follows and likes tweets by prominent conservatives including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and right-wing commentary Jesse Watters.

Yaccarino interviewed Musk before. [TAG14][TAG31]

In April, she appeared with Musk on stage to interview him about his plans for Twitter 2. The event was held in Miami Beach, and the focus of it was "the future marketing on Twitter."

She shared the interview at the time in a Twitter: "We all agree… this freedom to speak, deserves a little more reach," wrote she.

During the interview Yaccarino advised Musk to be more cautious about his tweets. [TAG15][TAG32]

Musk was asked by Yaccarino if, as Twitter's owner and due to his popularity, he believes he should "be held to a higher or different standard".

Yaccarino replied: "For instance, you said that you shouldn't probably tweet after 3 am." Will you commit to be a bit more specific and refrain from tweeting after 3 a.m.?

Musk said to Yaccarino he "aspired to tweet less before 3 am" but that it would be wrong for him to let other people influence what he tweeted.

Musk stated: "That would be an erosion of freedom of expression."

This wasn't the only time Yaccarino and Musk have interacted on stage. [TAG16][TAG33]

She tweeted earlier this month about a partnership between NBCU (NBC Universal) and Twitter.

She wrote: "Hey @elonmusk, here's a new idea for our partnership: Periscope #Paris2024."

Two days later NBC Sports announced that it would be expanding its partnership with Twitter and Snapchat to the 2024 Olympics.

Insider reported previously that Yaccarino had told friends that she wanted in the past to be CEO at Twitter.
