- Donald Trump posted a video on Wednesday of Ron DeSantis using voice-cloning artificial intelligence.
- The parody is a tongue-in cheek, with DeSantis and Elon addressing the devil and Adolf Hitler.
- This is the latest, and possibly the most obvious, sign that AI is being used to wage political warfare.
The Trump-DeSantis 2024 political showdown began on Wednesday night, and artificial intelligent is right in the middle.
Around a dozen posts in, his Truth Social tirade slammed Gov. Former President Donald Trump posted a video of Ron DeSantis 2024 campaign launch featuring a conversation which clearly uses voice-cloning artificial intelligence.
This is not the first post by Trump that contains AI-generated material. The two-minute video, which was uploaded to a Rumble private account, is perhaps the latest and most prominent sign of AI infiltrating the political sphere.
The video is a parody on DeSantis' stutter-ridden launch of Twitter Spaces.
Elon Musk and the Florida Governor are featured, along with a sampling of Trump's list of people who he doesn't like — billionaire George Soros and World Economic Forum Chair Klaus Schwab. Also included is former Vice President Dick Cheney. It is clear that the parody was intended from the start, as characters such as Adolf Hitler and the FBI are included.
Musk's voice is heard saying, "Hello everyone and welcome to our Ron DeSantis Tweet Spaces."
"Hello? "Hello? Soros' voice interrupts.
The next thing you hear is a bizarre mix of old audio and new lines of dialogue spoken by an unidentified person. AI-generated dialog sounds almost identical to the voices being imitated.

Please, shut up and let me make my announcement. DeSantis' voice says.
Would you shut up? "I'm running for the fucking presidency, okay?" his voice later adds.
Everyone responds, "Yeah we already knew that."
Musk's AI-cloned speech pattern even mimics Musk's own.
The voice said, "Uh-uh, guys, this call is not private, this is public Twitter Space. Everyone can listen to it," at one point.
Trump's voice is heard at the end of this clip.
"Hold on, Elon!" The real president will say a few things. I will kick you in the a** very soon, devil. Hitler, you're already dead. "Dick Cheney, it sounds like you will be joining Hitler very shortly," said the voice.
"Klaus Schwab, George Soros – I will put both of your arses in prison. Ron DeSanctimonious is welcome to kiss my beautiful big 2024 presidential a**. Trump 2024, baby. Let's go!
The clip reminds me of AI-generated memes about "gaming presidents," which feature the voices of President Joe Biden and former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush as well as Bill Clinton, trash-talking over "Call of Duty", "Overwatch" and "Fortnite".
Joe Rogan, Musk and other celebrities are also featured in these memes.
Trump's recently reposted parody of Twitter Spaces comes at a time when politicians all over the world are slowly starting to use AI for their own ends. In April, the Republican National Committee used AI-generated images to create an attack ad against Biden.
New Zealand's National Party, a center-right party, has also posted AI-generated photos on Instagram. These range from a photo featuring two nurses to an absurd version of the Fast and Furious poster.
The New Zealand Herald reported that National Party leader Christopher Luxon claimed his party used AI to create "some stock photos" for social media.
Trump shared a clip that was created using voice-cloning artificial intelligence on May 11. The clip features CNN anchor Anderson Cooper claiming that the former president "ripped us a brand new asshole on CNN's presidential town hall live."
Experts in cybersecurity and technology are concerned that generative AI can be used to mislead and distort truths and confuse voters.
Trump's DeSantis Parody is clearly tongue-in cheek, but if you believe fake videos and images, they can have immediate consequences. A false photo showing the Pentagon exploding, which was at least partly AI-generated, sent the stock markets into a dive on Monday.
Insider's comment request sent after regular business hours to a Trump spokesperson was not immediately responded to.
