Twitter suffered its worst outage in years on Wednesday. Users complained about being unable to tweet, retweet or direct message others.
This interruption was the latest in a series of problems Twitter has had since Elon Musk assumed control of the platform. He introduced a new era that focuses on cost cutting and stricter workplace protocols.
According to the Platformer newsletter, many employees aren't happy with Musk's changes. This is especially true for those who work at Twitter San Francisco headquarters.
Platformer reports that a current employee stated, "I know it sounds silly, but they seem to have acquired the absolute worst coffee sellers on earth."
San Francisco headquarters used to offer breakfast and lunch for free. According to the same employee, workers now have to pay for food.
Platformer reported that Musk's makeshift bedrooms at San Francisco headquarters still exist, and that employees must reserve them in advance.
In January, Twitter sued the landlord of its San Francisco headquarters for not paying rent for two months.
Platformer reported that Slack, the company's messaging platform, was once "the epicenter for Twitter's open culture where employees discussed everything and anything", has been "dormant".
Platformer was told by one employee that people no longer talk about work anymore.
Platformer stated that people greet one another in the hallway by asking, "Where are you interviewing?" Platformer reported that people greet each other in the hallway by saying, "Where are you interviewing?"
Despite this, employees still believe that Elon Musk's Twitter has seen improvements under the new CEO.
One employee stated that Twitter was dominated by committees that failed to achieve anything in the past. "I appreciate the fact that anyone can do anything they think will improve the world. However, this is a double-edged sword: moving too fast can have unintended consequences.
Twitter didn't immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.
