It’s been five year since Tesla and SpaceX were founded (and Twitter but who counts?). Elon Musk, CEO, launched his cherry-red Tesla Roadster into orbit. This stunt was to celebrate SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket launch on February 6, 2018. Starman dressed as a mannequin in SpaceX’s signature spacesuit “drives” the car around the cosmos.
Ben Pearson designed a website called whereisroadster.com that tracks the Roadster’s location. Pearson stated that the vehicle was “crossing the orbit of Mars for a fourth time since launch” in the middle of last week. The vehicle orbits the Sun for 557 days, and it is possible that it will reach Earth in one day.
It has been extremely harsh in space, which has not been good for the car and its occupant. It has exceeded its 36,000-mile warranty 70,050 times. It is expected that it will pass within a few hundred thousand miles of Earth in 2091.
