The family of Elon Musk-tracking student, a college undergraduate, said that ‘they can’t really believe the jet won’t just disappear’

Elon Musk threatened legal action against the student who tracked his private jet via Twitter. Jack Sweeney said that his family was “amazed” that Musk would be so upset by their tracking account.

After Musk threatened legal action, the college student who was following Elon Musk’s private plane on Twitter stated that his family is “unable to believe” it will not disappear.

Insider spoke to Jack Sweeney, who said that Musk’s tweet about suing him along with others “who supported harm for my family” was sent while he was at home with his mother.

Sweeney spoke about his family, saying that they were “just amazed at how this continues on and how Elon is so affected by it.” They can’t believe it won’t go away.

Twitter banned Sweeney’s account that tracks Musk’s jet @ElonJet on Wednesday along with more than 30 other jet-tracking profiles Sweney uses to track celebrity jets like those used by Taylor Swift or Mark Zuckerberg.

Sweeney also had his Twitter account suspended.

Musk tweeted that “any account doxxing real time location information of anyone will be suspended as it is considered a violation of physical safety.” This includes sharing links to real-time location information. He stated that sharing locations on a “slightly delayed basis” is acceptable.

His tweet was replied to by him saying that a car carrying his son, X in Los Angeles, “was followed” by a crazy stalker, who thought it was me, and then blocked the car from moving & climbed onto the hood.

Sweeney said to Insider that he does not know the significance of the incident because he only monitors Musk’s private plane and Musk isn’t always a passenger.

Sweeney said that he was surprised to see Musk’s tweet about him suing him. However, he soon began to think rationally.

He said, “It appears like he’s trying to scare my and it’s going to not work.”

Sweeney is currently in winter break after just finishing finals at the University of Central Florida.

Sweeney stated, “I wanted to go home and take a break because it was time to catch up on stuff. Now everything is crazy.”

CNN’s Sweeney’s grandmother stated that it was “kind of frightening” to watch her grandson face one of the richest men in the world.

His grandmother answered when asked about her message to Musk: “Oh, he better remember that I’m his Grandma, that’s all that I have to say.”
