Yusaku Maezawa, a Japanese billionaire, has selected a crew to accompany SpaceX’s first private lunar mission next year. This includes DJ Steve Aoki and T.O.P from Big Bang K-pop.

Maezawa announced the 10-member crew, which includes two backups, for the mission “dearMoon”, in a YouTube video and tweet posted Thursday. The crew also includes artists, content creators and athletes from all over the globe, such as American YouTuber Tim Dodd and Indian TV actor Dev Joshi.

SpaceX stated that Maezawa and his crew will travel 200 km from the moon’s surface with SpaceX.

SpaceX released a statement on Thursday stating that the dearMoon crew would be the first humans to launch a Starship, fly around the Moon and return safely to Earth. The company said that more than a million people had applied to fly along Maezawa from 249 different countries and regions.

Maezawa, a Japanese fashion mogul with a net worth $1.7 billion, purchased all of the Starship seats back in 2018. His unusual choice of companions to travel with him on his mission to the moon is in keeping with his eclectic and charismatic persona.

He gave away money last year after returning from a 12-day trip to the International Space Station.

Maezawa, who had just launched an open contest for the 2020 moon mission, announced that he was looking for a romantic “female companion” to go with him to the moon in 2020. The search was abandoned by Maezawa.
