Two suspects were arrested for allegedly stealing more than $8,000 in merchandise from Buford, Georgia. They were stopped to charge their Tesla escape vehicle and drove 15 minutes further.
Insider was told by Gwinnett County Police that the suspects were located around 10 miles from the Gas South Arena venue.
On Sunday, the police posted details about the theft and images of the car stuffed with boxes of electronic toothbrushes and gaming systems on social media. Insider was informed by a spokesperson for the police that the thieves fled a Sam's Club location.
Witnesses reported to police that the couple fled in an electric vehicle. Their description was broadcast to all nearby officers.

It is not clear if the shoplifters were the original owners of the vehicle or if they stole it previously.
According to Tesla's website, the current Tesla models can travel more than 300 miles on a fully charged battery.
A Tesla battery has been used to stop criminals before. A woman from Arizona attempted to steal a Model S in 2019, but the battery ran out as she drove off.
A 21-year old attempted to steal a Model 3 in California the following year. However, when the driver got out, he used his iPhone to remotely lock the would-be thief within the car.
The Verge reported in 2014 that the first Tesla owner to die was the one who stole the car from the service center and crashed it into a police chase of nearly 100 miles per hour.
