1. The Meta/Apple privacy war is at an important point. Both companies have been at odds for years. The CEOs of the company have a history making snide remarks at one another. Meta, which relies on Apple's platform to allow people to use Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, has been the alpha to Apple's beta.
- Meta was cut off by Apple's privacy changes for 2021. This has hampered Meta’s data-driven advertising model. It shows in the bottom line.
- Mark Zuckerberg's move into the metaverse was intended to free him from Apple's grasps. His companies could access the user data that Apple's data-driven advertising model relied upon by creating their own platform.
- My teammate Paayal Zveri was told by experts that Meta must completely reinvent its advertising model in order to escape Apple.
Get a glimpse into their feuding future.
