- Elon Musk believes it is "super concerning" that intelligent youths don't have more sex.
- Responding to a tweet that high IQ youths don't have as much sex than average IQ youths, he said so.
- The content of the tweet can be traced back at a 2000 paper titled "Smart teens don’t have sex".
Elon Musk is worried about smart teenage boys' sex lives.
Twitter CEO Bronwyn Williams sent a tweet Monday night to the CEO of Twitter. Williams cited research showing that youths who have an IQ of 130 or more are "3-5 times less likely to have sex" than those with an average IQ.
Williams tweeted that "Boys who have an IQ of 60 or more were still more likely than boys with a very high IQ (130) to have had sex." He also said that this "doesn't bode well for humanity."

Williams' tweet refers to a 2000 research paper in the Journal of Adolescent Health titled "Smart teens don’t have sex or kiss much either."
To determine if intelligence and sexual activity are linked, the study followed 12,000 US adolescents between 7th and 12th grade.
Study found that teens at the top of the intelligence distribution were less likely than their peers to have sex. The study also found that teens at the lower end were less likely to have sex than their peers. Those with higher intelligence scores were also more likely to have sex relationships later in their lives.
Carolyn Halpern is a Professor at The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. She was also one of the researchers in the study. WebMD reported that more intelligent teens "probably think about their educational and occupational goals, and the potential negative consequences of early sexual activities."
The research was published 23-years ago. In 2021, a study in the academic journal Archives of Sexual Behavior found that people have had less sex between 2009 and 2018.
Musk has a reputation for tweeting about the imminent collapse of the population. He claims that humans must immediately increase fertility rates to avoid devastating consequences.
Insider reached Musk but did not receive a response immediately.
