Elon Musk's Disinterest in GTA VI Trailer
As the highly anticipated trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI) dropped, it seems that not everyone is excited about the game's release. Elon Musk, the well-known entrepreneur and CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has revealed that he has never been able to get into the GTA series due to his aversion to committing virtual crimes.
GTA V and Its Massive Popularity
GTA V, the predecessor of GTA VI, is considered one of the most popular video games of all time, having sold a staggering 190 million copies since its release in 2015. Despite its immense success, Musk admitted that he could not bring himself to finish the game because he did not enjoy engaging in criminal activities within the virtual world.
Musk's Reluctance to Partake in Virtual Crimes
Musk took to social media platform X to express his disinterest in GTA V and his reasons for not completing the game. He mentioned that one of the main factors that deterred him was the requirement to shoot police officers in the opening scene, an action he could not bring himself to do. Musk's reluctance to engage in fictionalized violence in video games is notable, especially considering some of his recent controversial behavior.
The Release of the GTA VI Trailer
The trailer for GTA VI was originally scheduled to be released on a specific day, but due to a leak on social media, Rockstar Games decided to unveil it a day earlier. The game is the latest installment in the highly successful GTA series, known for its extreme violence and storylines centered around organized crime. Set in a fictionalized version of Miami called Vice City, GTA VI is set to hit the market in 2025.
Musk's Behavior Contrasting with his Disinterest in Virtual Violence
Musk's apparent reluctance to engage in fictionalized violence within video games stands in contrast to some of his recent controversial behavior. During an interview at the New York Times' Dealbook conference, Musk responded to advertisers who had left X by telling them to "go fuck yourselves." This came after a growing exodus of advertisers from the platform due to Musk's endorsement of an antisemitic post as the "actual truth." Musk later admitted that this was the most "foolish" thing he had ever posted on the site.
