- Elon Musk once more predicted that man would reach Mars in 10 years.
- After SpaceX, his aerospace company, successfully tested the strongest rocket ever made, he decided to do this.
- This billionaire has previously made optimistic predictions about sending humans to Mars.
Elon Musk once more stated that it is "highly probable" that man will reach Mars in 10 years. This was due to Musk's "congenitally optimistic" outlook.
Musk tweeted a SpaceX video showing the successful launch of Starship's booster rocket. He also commented: "One day Starship will take me to Mars."
Starship, at its maximum capacity, is the most powerful rocket ever built. SpaceX claims that it will carry both crew and cargo to Earth orbit and Mars, as well as to the Moon and Mars.
Musk responded to a question about when humans can go to Mars.
SpaceX's video shows engineers performing a static fire test. Musk claims that 31 of 33 engines located at the vehicle's base were ignited simultaneously.
"Team shut off 1 engine before the start, and 1 stopped itself. So 31 engines were fired in total. There are still enough engines to get into orbit! Musk tweeted.
According to The New York Times, if all 33 engines had been ignited at full power, it would have been the strongest rocket ever launched.
Musk has been predicting a 2029 landing since the beginning of time, and has teased us about when we will reach Mars. After his 2016 estimate that humans would reach Mars in 2025, Musk made this prediction.
He shared his vision for a Mars city of one million inhabitants by 2050 in 2020. He stated that he would like to build 1,000 Starships, launch three Starships per day, and make it possible for anyone to travel to Mars.
"There will be many jobs on Mars!" He added.
Musk, however, warned that Mars life won't be easy in a conversation with Chris Anderson, president of TED Conference.
"Mars is a dangerous and cramped place. This is the sales pitch. It's possible you won't make it back. It can be difficult and hard work.
