- Fox News made jokes about Ron DeSantis announcing his presidential campaign, which didn't quite go according to plan.
- DeSantis was interviewed by Trey Gowdy, Fox News after the announcement went wrong.
- Gowdy said to the Florida Governor, "I cannot promise that I will not crash but Fox News won't crash during this interview."
Florida Governor Rick Scott has apologized for his presidential campaign, which he ran on Twitter Spaces with Elon Musk. Trey Gowdy teased Ron DeSantis on Fox News, Wednesday night.
Gowdy stated, "I cannot promise that I will not crash, but Fox News won't crash in this interview", referring to a Twitter Spaces event which had to be restarted after the system crashed.
Gowdy jokingly told a smiling DeSantis that if he broke Twitter his daughter and the Kardashians would be upset.
DeSantis said to Gowdy on Fox that his Twitter Spaces announcement had "a huge audience" — "the largest they'd ever seen" — that they "did actually break the Twitter Space," and that he was excited by the "enthusiasm."
It's not true. More than 3.3 millions people listened to a BBC interview with Elon on Twitter Spaces; the working stream of DeSantis’ announcement attracted 3.1 million viewers.
FoxNews.com posted a banner on its site with the following "programming note:" "Want to see and hear Ron DeSantis?" Fox News will be on at 8 pm. "ET", according to screenshots of the Axios site shared by political correspondent Alex Thompson on Twitter.
Many others, such as DeSantis’ biggest rival in 2024, Donald Trump, or Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, made fun of the new presidential nominee for his botched announcement.
