Ted Cruz, a Texas Republican Senator, has promised to investigate Big Tech giants such as Google and Facebook for using monopoly power to silence views of others on ‘Varney & Co.
Ted Cruz, a Texas Republican, promised to investigate Big Tech giants who use “monopoly power to suppress speech” while praising Elon Musk, for releasing the files on Twitter. He told “Varney & Co.” that Silicon Valley is abusing its power by suppressing the views of those who disagree.
TED CRUZ : Elon Musk has taken over Twitter and is now consuming a lot of his time. He practically lives in the office. It’s amazing that Elon Musk spent $48B to acquire Twitter. This is huge for free speech. Big Tech censorship is the greatest threat to freedom of speech in America, and this belief has been held by me for years. They’ve been taking advantage of their power and moving further and farther left by the giant Silicon Valley companies. They have been suppressing the opinions of people who don’t agree with them. I believe we should return to an environment that allows freedom of speech and allows everyone to express themselves. Great if you disagree with someone. Stand up and tell them why. You don’t have to use monopoly power just to silence views that you don’t agree with.
NEW ‘BIG TECH SCORECARD’ SHOWS MOST FIRMS THREATEN FREE SPEECH
The way Elon entered Twitter has changed the landscape. With the Twitter files, he makes public the internal emails, communications from the Biden White House from Democrat members to Congress. It becomes obvious, number one how weak a base these Big Tech companies have to ban someone, drop their posts, shadow-ban them. It’s a weak political ground. Number two is how deeply Big Tech is in bed with Big Government. How eager they were, to be the heavy, and to be the censor for Democrat politicians. It’s clear that Elon has opened his kimono on Twitter. This has changed the landscape for all the other players. There’s every reason why they believe they are all doing the same thing. So I started an investigation.
