Donald Trump believes Elon Musk knew that he would lose the Twitter CEO election. Trump said that Musk wanted to resign. Trump also stated that Musk needed a new CEO who has “business sense” and can wear “a lot of hats.”
Donald Trump, a former President, believes Elon Musk polled people to determine whether he should continue as CEO of Twitter. He knew he would lose.
“I believe he wanted to resign. “I think that’s an effective way to step down, you know? Just losing a poll and then saying, ‘I’m outta there,'” Trump stated of Musk on Tuesday during an appearance on One America News.
Trump was referring specifically to the Twitter poll Musk posted on Sunday. In it, 57.5% of the 17.5 million respondents voted to have him resign as CEO of Twitter. Musk tweeted Tuesday that he would resign as Twitter CEO if he found someone “foolish enough” to replace him.
Trump stated that Musk needs a replacement, someone who can wear “a lot of different hats” when he was asked by One America News.
“This is not an easy thing to find. Technology and politics are required. Trump stated that you need “sort of everything”. Trump stated, “And you need to have business sense and a good business sense. It will be fascinating to see who this is.
Trump also praised Musk for publishing the “Twitter Files”, which showed Joe Biden’s campaign asking Twitter to delete tweets in 2020, including nude videos and photos about Hunter Biden.
Trump stated that the “Twitter Files” are a “very important part of his legacy,” and called them “more important than any other Musk-related activity.”
Trump said, “I’d call him a hero.”
Trump and Musk have had a turbulent relationship over the years. Musk said to CNBC that Trump should not be elected president before the 2016 election.
Two economic advisory councils were created by the Trump administration in December 2016. Musk resigned from the positions on June 2, 2017, after Trump declared that the US would withdraw from the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
In 2022, the two began to fight openly. Trump called Musk “bullshit” in July and accused him for lying about his voting record. Musk posted that Trump’s remarks made it clear that he might not be running for president again after his comments.
Musk tweeted, “I don’t hate Trump, but it’s time for Trump hang up his hat and sail into the sunset.” “Dems should also stop the attack – Trump’s only chance to survive is to regain his Presidency,” Musk tweeted on July 11.
Musk restored Trump’s Twitter account in November. Trump is not tweeting from the account he has reinstated, but posts from Truth Social.
Insider reached out to Musk and Trump representatives but they did not respond immediately.
