George Hotz, a self-driving-car designer, tweeted last month that he was going to start a Twitter internship. Hotz stated that he has no regrets and is still rooting for Twitter 2.0’s success.
George Hotz, who last month tweeted that he was beginning a 12-week internship at Twitter in order to improve the platform’s search quality, quit yesterday.
Self-driving car developer and hacker, he said that he didn’t believe there was any real impact he could make there, but that he enjoyed the chance.

Hotz tweeted Monday’s poll asking for his opinion on whether he should “step aside as a Twitter intern?”
This poll was based on Elon Musk’s recent tweet asking whether he should resign as Twitter CEO. Hotz agreed with Musk and said, “I will follow the results of this survey.”

Hotz polled 63% of voters, and he tweeted his resignation the following day.
After Musk announced his resignation, Hotz seemed still invested in the platform and said that “we’re building something better” than Mastodon.
Hotz did not respond immediately to Insider’s request for comment before publication. Two people who were familiar with Hotz’s departure from Twitter have confirmed to Insider that Hotz resigned and was removed from company systems like Slack.
Hotz replied to a tweeter asking if he regretted. We are still rooting for Twitter 2.0’s success!
Hotz responded that he did it with the right people and not the public when asked if he would do an exit interview.
Hotz tweeted after Musk’s November email to Twitter employees asking for a “extremely difficultcore” work culture. All those who do not desire greatness should be let go.
Musk hired him shortly after. He tweeted that Musk had told him that his job at Twitter was to fix the search function, and that he would also work to get rid of the pop-up that appears when users go to the site but aren’t logged in.
Hotz stated that he had removed the login popup from Twitter Space with Musk but that it was returned by engineers who “mistaken.”
Hotz was critical of Twitter’s short policy of banning accounts from other social media platforms.
Hotz was recognized in 2007 when he was the first to unlock the iPhone’s carrier to allow people to use the iPhone on other networks than AT&T’s. Sony also sued Hotz for hacking PlayStation 3.
