Some Twitter users claim that their feeds are getting flooded with posts from Elon Musk, the platform's founder.

Platformer's managing editors Zoe Schiffer and Zoe Schiller asked their 99,000 followers, "Is everyone else’s entire For You pages Elon replies?" This tweet got more than 600 replies, with many people complaining about the same problem.

Three Insider employees confirmed that Musk was the top-ranked tweeter.

Musk responded to the speculation with a tweet referencing the issue. He later said: "Please stay on the alert while we adjust the uh …. algorithm."

Musk fired a Twitter engineer who pointed out the declining views of the platform last week.

Per Platformer, Musk asked his employees to look into whether Musk's Twitter reach was being restricted by a possible problem with Twitter's algorithm.

Platformer reported that Musk's employees showed him internal data and a Google Trends graph regarding engagement with his account. According to the tech newsletter, Musk fired one of his principal engineers who suggested that Musk's view count may be falling due to a lack in public interest since his purchase of Twitter.

Musk has been worried about engagement and view counts for some time. Musk made his Twitter account public for one day earlier this month to test whether it would increase engagement.

Insider reached out to Twitter representatives for clarification but they did not respond outside of normal working hours.
