- Walmart decided to not run a Super Bowl commercial and instead found a way for it to play off ads from other companies.
- The retailer tweeted links to Walmart products that were similar to the ones in the commercials.

Walmart did not have a Super Bowl commercial.
However, that didn't stop the retail giant getting some profit out of those multimillion dollar advertisements. It simply went to Twitter to inform people where they could purchase the cool stuff it saw during Sunday's big game.
Walmart posted links to products that were featured in commercials from other companies throughout the evening.
Following Workday's commercial in which it criticized companies for using "rockstar" as a description of standout employees, Walmart posted a photo collage that included the caption "musical colleague" along with items such as guitars, wigs and leather pants.
Walmart responded to the tweet with links to products by saying "Be your own corporate language."

Walmart saw other ways to promote its products, including commercials for Planters peanuts and Michelob Ultra. To accompany its tweets, the company used #walmartversion.
Insider was told by a Walmart spokesperson that Walmart's goal was to "connect with our customers in an relatable and lighthearted manner that was unique to our brand, and what they've come expect of us on social media."
The spokesperson for the company stated that "the 'Walmart version' is an important part of social vernacular." "Our customers love championing our 'Walmart Version of everything we sell because even the most expensive items in commercials, they can all be found on our shelves at everyday low price points.
Walmart's last Super Bowl commercial was in 2020, when it promoted its grocery pickup service. The ad featured many cameos from movies like Star Wars and Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.
