The rest of the week I will highlight some of Insider’s most important investigations, features and other highlights. Today we will be looking back at everything, from employee anger at Amazon to Thomas Kurian’s three-year reign as Google Cloud’s chief executive.

1. What Twitter alternatives are more resilient and which ones will be the next Clubhouse? Although interest in Twitter alternatives like Mastodon or Hive Social has increased, downloads have fallen recently. Check out these Twitter alternatives that could save the day.

2. America’s inflation woes could be over. Amazon’s product prices increased at a slower rate than US inflation in 2018, and its economists predict that the company’s prices will rise at a slower rate going forward. Let’s see what this could signify.

3. Insider reporter Tim Levin has tested 19 electric cars and explains why he doesn’t want to buy one. Tim Levin has driven everything, from large SUVs to big pickup trucks to six-figure luxury cars. Among other factors, the price and inconvenient charging are what keep him from buying one. Here are the reasons he won’t purchase one now.

4. DoorDash driver and delivery woman had her car taken with her infant twins in it. Although the children were eventually recovered, the terrifying incident exposed the difficult reality of managing childcare and gig work. The full story is available here.

6. Amazon employees were furious about low pay earlier this year. Amazon employees, including senior staff members, pushed for higher compensation. They were disenchanted by what they perceived to be below-market wages — which led to greater attrition in senior ranks. The full story is available here.

7. We had our first look at the tech sector’s historic slump in May. Things turned sour for the tech sector after an unprecedented pandemic-era boom. The interest rates rose, the supply chains were hiccup-ridden, and inflation was rampant, leading to a once in a generation down-cycle.

8. Facebook was among the first to feel the pain. The company announced in May that it would be imposing a “severe hiring freeze” that would last months. It stated that the reduced targets for hiring would “affect almost all of the company’s teams.” Learn more about the industry’s downturn.

9. The three-year tenure of Thomas Kurian at Google Cloud. Kurian was hired to make this unit a potential revenue source for Alphabet. 10. According to Gopuff employees, hiring Amazon executives “destroyed” their operations. Gopuff employed more than twenty Amazon veterans to manage its operations at different levels.
