Elon Musk met with Republican and Democratic House leaders in surprise to discuss how Twitter could be fair to both the Republican House and Democratic House.

On Thursday, Elon Musk visited Capitol Hill to meet with House leaders from both parties and discuss Twitter.

Musk tweeted following the meeting: "Just met @SpeakerMcCarthy and @RepJeffries, to discuss ensuring this platform is fair for both parties."

According to Bloomberg, McCarthy was vague about his meeting with Musk. He is the CEO and co-owner of Twitter.

McCarthy said, "We've been friends since years." On Thursday, he turned 58.

According to CNN reporter Oliver Darcy who cited Jeffries' aide, the meeting was not planned. Jeffries was reportedly present at a meeting in Speaker McCarthy’s office when Musk arrived.

According to the aide, "It was mostly an intro."

Musk meets with both sides of the aisle as the tech billionaire has been increasingly involved in political discussions in recent months.

Musk encouraged Twitter followers to vote for "centrist candidate" in the 2022 midterm elections and stated that he would vote Republican despite having "overwhelmingly" voted for Democrats in the past.

Also, the Capitol Hill drop-in comes less than two weeks before the Republican-led House Oversight Committee plans a hearing on Twitter's handling Hunter Biden's laptop case. Ex-Twitter employees will testify.

Twitter's decision temporarily to suppress a New York Post article about President Biden's son in 2020 predates Musk becoming the owner of Twitter. Musk purchased the social media platform in October 2022 for $44 billion.
