Since Twitter’s $44 billion purchase, Elon Musk has made major changes to Twitter.
Twitter users voted Monday in a poll to remove Elon Musk from his position as CEO. This was in response to the suggestion that only members who are paid should be allowed to vote.
After a Twitter poll voted Elon Musk out as CEO, Musk said that only paying subscribers (that’s Twitter Blue members) will be allowed to vote on policy-related matters.
The CEO of Twitter was responding to the suggestion by a Blue member that only paid members should be allowed vote in policy-related polls, because “we actually have skin to play in the game.”
Musk tweeted Monday, “Twitter will be that change.”

Twitter Blue is a paid subscription that charges users for a blue tick next to their account names. It also gives them early access to some features. It costs $8 per month for US web users and Musk said it is part of his strategy to monetize Twitter Blue.
More than 10 million (or 57.5%) of the 17.5 million Twitter users that participated in the poll voted to have Musk resign as CEO.
“Should i step down as chief of Twitter?” Musk tweeted the following Sunday, while posing the poll.

Musk’s rollercoaster leadership of Twitter
Musk, who purchased Twitter in October for $44 billion, has made sweeping changes to the company. He’s instituted mass layoffs as well as reinstating the account from former President Donald Trump.
Twitter users have been experiencing a lot of turmoil in the last week due to a series snap change at the platform.
Twitter has suspended accounts that track private jets, including Musk’s private plane. The accounts were using publicly available information. Musk blamed safety concerns for the decision.
Twitter suspended several journalist accounts after Musk claimed they had doxxed him. Some accounts were reinstated since then.
Twitter announced that users wouldn’t be able promote their accounts on any other social media platform last week. However, it has since removed this page.
Twitter Safety team surveyed users Monday to determine if it should have a policy prohibiting “the creation or use of existing account for the primary purpose of advertising on other social media platforms.”
Twitter didn’t immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment outside of regular business hours.
