- Elon Musk’s Twitter has started to resemble a Fox News version.
- In the beginning of this month, Tucker Carlson said he was relaunching his show.
- The Daily Wire podcasts and Ron DeSantis’ presidential launch will be broadcasted.
Twitter is beginning to resemble a certain conservative cable company.
Elon Musk, who has beef with progressives like President Joe Biden and Senator Elizabeth Warren, has taken control of the platform. It has now become the home of many prominent conservative voices.
Musk, who took over Fox News in November, has brought back favorites that were previously banned, such as Donald Trump and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (a Republican from Georgia).
In early February, the disgraced ex-Fox News host Tucker Carlson revealed that he would be bringing his program to Twitter. The Daily Wire, which publishes the "Ben Shapiro Show," is also following suit and will bring its entire podcast lineup to Twitter later this month.
Musk also said that Florida's Republican Governor was going to announce his presidential campaign on Twitter. Musk and Ron DeSantis will be discussing his campaign for president on Twitter.
Since Musk's takeover of the company, hate speech has also increased, including racial slurs and anti LGBTI slurs. Musk's tweets are more often endorsing conspiracy theories that support the GOP or anti-Democratic Party.
Musk, for his part, recently claimed that he is a moderate and that all of his Twitter actions are done in the name "freedom of speech".
He said in April that he was concerned about Twitter because it was like a digital town square. It's important to have both the perception and reality of trust from a variety of perspectives.
It is impressive to see the growing number of conservative voices on social media.
These moves coincident with the appointment Linda Yaccarino to Twitter's CEO. Yaccarino is known for being politically aligned to Musk. She was previously the head of advertising at NBCUniversal. She is also a former Trump appointment, having served as a member of the council for sports, fitness and nutrition.
Insiders in the industry have speculated that Twitter plans to use video given Yaccarino’s background in advertising.
Carlson is no longer on television, and one of Daily Wire's hosts has been demonetized. This creates an audience that needs a home. And this audience can generate advertising revenue.
Musk has not responded to Insiders' request for comment.
