Twitter announced that users will no longer be allowed to promote certain social media platforms for free on Sunday.

In a reply to one user on Sunday afternoon, Elon Musk appeared to inadvertently answer Dorsey’s question by calling himself “Chief Twit”.
“You can speak freely, but you have to pay to advertise. It sounds reasonable to me,” wrote the user.
Musk responded: “Exactly.”
Twitter Support tweeted that accounts that were created to promote these social platforms would be deleted from Twitter. Further details about the new policy can be found on Twitter Support’s Help Center.
The site stated that “We are aware that some of our users might be active on other social networking platforms; however, going ahead, Twitter will not allow free promotion on specific social media sites on Twitter.”
The Help Center lists other examples of tweets that could violate the new rule. These phrases could result in your tweet being removed and your account suspended.
“Follow me @username on Instagram”
“‘username@mastodon.social'”
“‘check out my profile on Facebook – facebook.com/username'”
While promotion of listed sites is forbidden, Twitter allows cross-posting from any platform. It also permits users to post usernames or links from other platforms.
Since Musk’s takeover of the social media platform in October for $44 billion, many changes have occurred to it. Musk, a tech billionaire, has called himself a “free speech absolutist” who quickly made changes to the site to make it more user-friendly.
