CNN reported that Yoel Roth was forced to flee his home after receiving threats of violence from the former Twitter executive, CNN reported. Musk has also been attacking Roth personally. Musk’s attacks on Roth come weeks after the billionaire tweeted that Roth was “highly integrity” and defended him.
According to reports, rampant attacks on Twitter directed at a former executive of a company are starting to have real-world implications.
According to CNN, Yoel Roth (ex-head of trust and safety at Twitter) was forced to flee his home by increasing violence threats.
After the publication of the “Twitter Files,” which revealed internal company communications and included deliberations over whether to suspend then-President Donald Trump’s account from Twitter in 2021, Roth was the target of a series of attacks. However, Trump was ultimately suspended by the company. Musk has since reactivated his account.
Over the weekend, Musk’s attacks on Roth became more personal. According to the Washington Post, Musk allegedly implied in multiple tweets that Roth held a permissive view on pedophilia, a tactic used often by the QAnon conspiracy group.
Musk’s accusations against Roth are coming just weeks after Musk publicly supported Roth against left-wing bias allegations based on old tweets. One of these was from 2016, in which Roth called ex-President Donald Trump a “racist Tangerine.”
“We have all made some questionable Tweets, me more so than others, but I want it to be very clear that Yoel is my support. Musk tweeted in October that his sense of integrity is high and that we all have the right to our political beliefs.
Twitter and Roth did not immediately respond to comment requests.
After Musk took control of Twitter, Roth continued in his position as Twitter’s head for trust & safety for two more weeks. He resigned in November.
